To figure out how much foam you need to fill a mould you need to calculate the volume of the mould based on the weight of your sculpting material. Choose your sculpting material in the mould volume calculator, type in the weight and use this volume as a guide to find how many batches you need.

The graphic show how volume is measured. The example is what we call a 5 x volume. In short, this means 1 part foam latex liquids (base, foaming agent and curing agent + misc chemicals you choose to add) to 4 parts of air whipped in.
This is one of two methods of making a measuring stick for finding the volume reached when whipping foam latex.
Here you touch or barely touch the foam surface with the stick while reading the volume above a hole in a ruler or mixing stick.
- You need a round metal or wooden stick. Bamboo is good.
- Attach a ball to the end.
- In a mixing stick, ruler or similar, drill a hole small enough for a tight fit for the stick.
- Poke the stick thru the hole, the ball towards the foam.
- Use a permanent marker or some sharp tool to create the markings.
- Add water equal to the foam latex liquids into your mixing bowl.
- Lower the stick until it barely touches the water.
- Mark the stick where it enters the ruler. This is your 1x volume.
- Lift the stick.
- Add the same amount of water.
- Lower the stick until it barely touches the water.
- Mark the stick. This is your 2x volume.
- Repeat until you have a full mixing bowl.
- Lift the stick to the highest point.
- Stop your mixer and your stopwatch.
- Place the contraption on top of your mixing bowl.
- Lower the stick until it barely touches the foam.
- Read your volume.
- Continue whipping or move on to the next part of your schedule.
This is the second of two methods of making a measuring stick for finding the volume reached when whipping foam latex. Here you lower your stick in the foam until it touches the bottom of your mixing bowl. Read the volume where the stick enters the foam.
- Find a reasonably sized metal or wooden stick. Bamboo is good. It needs to be longer than the depth of your mixing bowl.
- Use a permanent marker or some sharp tool to create the markings
- Add water equal to the foam latex liquids into your mixing bowl.
- Lower the stick until it reaches the bottom.
- Mark the stick where it is above the water. This is your 1x volume.
- Add the same amount of water.
- Mark the stick. This is your 2x volume.
- Repeat until you have a full mixing bowl.
- Stop your mixer and your stopwatch.
- Lower the stick until it touches the bottom.
- Read your volume.
- Continue whipping or move on to the next part of your schedule.
